Grimsby and Cleethorpes

Sheila was born in Hull and educated at Beverley High School. She began playing the piano as a young child receiving lessons from Amy Rounding in Hull.
She was soon in demand, regularly playing and singing in her church musical activities, and had successes in the Hull Music Festival. She passed her Grade V111 (Final) piano exam before going on to Madeley College of Education where she qualified as a Primary School Teacher.
Whilst at college she continued her musical education having lectures in theory and practice of music including conducting. She was also a member of the college choir.
Sheila began her teaching career in Hull where she joined the Hull Choral Union conducted by Alec Redshaw. In 1968 she moved to Grimsby and for some years was a member of Grimsby Philharmonic Choir and also Grimsby and District Amateur Operatic Society where she became the deputy accompanist.
Sheila accompanied and conducted her school choirs, produced many musical shows and concerts and also conducted a school orchestra at Welholme Junior and Old Clee Junior Schools where she completed her teaching career.
In 1982 Sheila accepted the invitation to be the accompanist for the Grimsby and Cleethorpes Ladies Choir
